Retention of notes and records of attendance
NB Counselling stores your information (Privacy policy, contract, contact details, attendance records*) for three years as recommended by the bacp (British Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapists) guidelines, after which they will be shredded. All documents are kept in a locked filing cupboard to which no other party has access.
*Process notes are shredded after supervision on a monthly basis.
Contact Info
I do not keep data electronically, other than email contact and phone numbers for the purposes of contacting you regarding arrangements/changes/payments of session. All emails and texts to NB Counselling and/or to NB Counselling facebook page will be deleted periodically.
In the event of an emergency, my supervisor holds client telephone numbers on a first name basis only.
Records of Payments and Invoices
If you have requested an Invoice, this will be kept on file for HMRC purposes. All other records of payments made by electronic transfer are also retained as they are part of my banking services, which are covered by their own data protection regulations. Cash payments are kept on record on a first name basis only, also for HMRC purposes.
CCTV on premises
There is CCTV operating on the premises for the purpose of crime prevention. The data is held for no more than 90 days.
ICO data protection law
The ICO states that all data stored and retained must be or legitimate reasons. I will not share data to a 3rd party unless required to do so by law.
